Debbie Banovic
Where were you working before being appointed as a Manager for Integrated Care?
Before moving to the Northern Rivers I was working in Sydney LHD as a Health Service Planner, with a focus on clinical and strategic planning.
Prior to this I had worked across a number of hospitals as a Dietitian and a Community Nutritionist, which eventually led to me taking on roles in the Centre for Population Health at the MoH and the Chronic Care team in the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI).
-
What aspect of the role are you enjoying most?
I have enjoyed taking on a leadership role in driving the implementation of Integrated Care initiatives across the District. With my most enjoyable component being a focus on supporting the delivery of evidence-based, data informed and value-driven decision making that reduces waste and delivers on the outcomes that matter most to our patients.
-
What are you currently working on in your role?
Currently our team are interpreting data, which is routinely collected clinical and population health data and linked data-sets, and presenting the findings to, and engaging key stakeholders to make data informed decisions on local approaches to Integrated Care and Value Based Healthcare implementation.
I am enjoying working collaboratively with Cate Mowbray, Project Lead on the delivery of a NSW Health Integrated Care scaled initiative, Planned Care for Better Health (PCBH).
-
What will you be working on in the future?
I am looking forward to building local capacity to evaluate and monitor Integrated Care initiatives; and identifying approaches for sustainability and scalability.
I am keen to identify shared priorities and collaborate with Integrated Care partners on emerging opportunities, and alignment of key initiatives across the NNSWLHD footprint.
I am also excited to work on data linkage from General Practice, ED, NNSWLHD inpatient and outpatient settings, with the aims to better define patient cohorts, map the patient journey and their health trajectories. This will support a clearer understanding of interactions between the patient and healthcare providers
