Work is set to begin on the replacement of two critical infrastructure assets at Maclean District Hospital. The upgrade of the hospital’s internal lift and electronic nurse call system are being undertaken simultaneously thanks to $1.6 million in funding announced by the Minns Labor Government in September 2025.
An expanded midwifery service has launched at Lismore Base Hospital, providing more women and families in Northern NSW with access to high-quality midwifery continuity of care. Under the expanded Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) model of care, women can receive care from a known primary midwife to support them throughout their pregnancy and up to two weeks after birth.

Community advisory groups are established across the District to provide advice, feedback, and guidance about local health services.

Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy is available for pregnant women, all hospital patients, and clients of Rekindling the Spirit and Bullinah Aboriginal Medical Services. While smoking rates have declined over recent years, 13 per cent of adults in Northern NSW LHD, or 34,700 people, still smoke.
