In March new pulmonary function testing equipment arrived at Lismore Base Hospital (LBH).
This welcome addition of a MasterScreen/SentrySuite® unit will enable LBH to offer full range of lung function testing including FeNO.
Simon Fokes is running the pulmonary function laboratory undertaking pulmonary function testing. Simon is an Exercise Physiologist and recently received training through the Newcastle Lung Group where he quickly reached a high level of competence.
Lucky for the LHD Simon is hrilled to be part of the Specialist Outpatient Team at LBH.
“SentrySuite allows us to measure diffusing capacity, lung volumes and spirometry measures and gives insight into pulmonary disease including; stability, progression and severity.” Said Simon.
Patients will benefit from the new equipment and Simon’s ability to perform and interpret the following measurements:
- Spirometry pre-and postbronchodilator
- Bronchial provocation mannitol
- Measurement of single breath diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide
- Lung volume measurement by plethysmography
- Altitude simulation testing
- Measurement of maximal respiratory pressures
- Six minute walk test.
- FeNO
